Does anyone know when moog synthesisers came out?..because if ray manzarek is playing one,the sound is way ahead of its time..ok i know elp used simular etc,but the power of that tone is almost gary numan or 70s human league who came along ten years later!

The first MOOG models came in early sixties. They were widely used by many artists of the 70's, such as Rick Wakeman (Yes and solo) and Keith Emerson (ELP).
As far as I know, Ray Manzarek used a MOOG Protoype in "Strange Days" to manipulate Jim's voice. In "Waiting For The Sun", he used a Gibson G101 (or Kalamazoo) in the intro and base (with a great vibrato and reverb effect). For the chorus, he used a RMI Electra-Piano (this one was also used by Tony Banks, Rick Wakeman and Jon Lord).
