| No arguement there. Drills are important, But even Bruce Lee said rehearsed rythym doesnt work. But FMa has the best free flow I';ve scenme. They are doing free flow there. Its just ceremonial what they are doing. I doubt its all they are doing in their training. |

| Your right FMA does have the best flow drills, but I've sparred alot of guy's that were great at flow drills but sucked at sparring, I just think the drills don't translate all the time into fighting |

| If you check out the real Game of Death Movie from the Documentary about Bruce Lee. The scene where he fights Dan Inosanto with a bamboo stick he explains his weapon is "alive" while the escimador he fights is confined to his drills. Drills teach us that we have options and teaches us flow But in a real fight we apply the flow with aliveness. |

| I totally agree what he's saying. But what basically what that is is Sparring. Thats basically what aliveness is. We sparr to understand what works and what doesnt work. There is a place for drills and there is a place for sparring. As Bruce said we must apply. So yeah aliveness "sparring" is very important. Bottom line. Drills alone doesnt work. |

| drills don't teach options they teach patterns, why do you need the pattern? why not just train ALIVE with no pattern, just progressive sparring, if you train that way everything do will work in full contact, think about it |

| you need to crawl before you walk. you can do drills with aliveness. Its like when u 1st teachn kids martial arts. they have to learn how to stand and then move, before u do strikes and kicks |

| Thats why they are not progressive. you have to learn to do everything. Sparring must always play a factor. Because a fight is unpredictable. You dont know what could happen in a fight. |

| Will someone please tell me what is the real story behind the roots of this style? When I first heard of Sayoc Kali, it was described as a family system, generations old, coming all the way from Cavite in the Philipppines. Now I hear that it was created by the Sayocs after learning various styles. So WTF is it really? If they're going to market themselves well, they better get their propaganda straight. LOL!!! |

| drills reinforce muscle memory, to react automatically to certain situations. sometimes drills can conditions bad muscle memory especially when learning a new system. learning options or variations in technique are good too. i prefer show multiple variations, for example 4-6 version of gunting against the same stike. |

| I still don't know either. I only put this up because I light the music background. Last year I had an opportunity to attend Tuhan Chris Sayoc Jr seminar. It a family system but i heard rumors it's was taken from PTK (peketi tirsia kali). |

| Sayoc Kali is a constantly evolving system. So it isn't difficult to market, you're asking right now which means there's interest right? Don't get confused by the simple fact that the Sayocs took generations of knowledge on how to organize, define, research, and keep their family art growing when others pride themselves in having a finite set of methods, and basically trolling Sayoc related posts since that's the only way they can market themselves. |
